This Catholic meets Jewish backyard wedding took place at Blackwater Ranch which also just happens to be the Bride’s childhood home! This horse-ranch-turned-wedding-venue was the perfect spot for this navy, blush and sage wedding.
Katie & Mike
March 14, 2020 at Blackwater Ranch, Private Venue
Aside from getting to marry the love of her life, having the wedding ceremony and reception at Blackwater Ranch was Katie’s favorite thing about her wedding day. Katie grew up on this ranch, and it was super important for her to cherish her home while also starting her new married life. Their backyard wedding was a huge family reunion as well, and Katie is so excited that Mike was able to meet ALL of her family for their wedding. Katie is a self proclaimed “cool aunt” and Mike is taking on the role as the new cool uncle very well. Mike even had a jr. groomsman in his wedding party, Katies nephew.
After narrowing down their 12 honeymoon location ideas, the couple finally decided on Banff, Canada. Katie and Mike already live so close to the beach so for their honeymoon they wanted to choose somewhere cold and in the mountains. Mike loves the cold, and Katie loves any excuse to snuggle with Mike.
Backyard Wedding Reception & Ceremony
The ceremony included Catholic and Jewish prayers, as well as Mike stomping on the glass during the ceremony. Being the cool aunt that she is, Katie made a few of her nieces her jr. bridesmaids. The ceremony took place in front of a pond on the property. Katie and Mike made sure their fur-children, Max and Paisley, made it in the wedding as well. One of them were in each wedding party adorned with a bow tie and a “Dog of Honor” bandana.
Following a sunset cocktail hour, guests joined the couple for toasts and a fabulous dinner in the tented seating area. For the reception they moved the celebration to the barn where everyone danced the night away. Guests were able to enjoy signature cocktails named after Max and Paisley, custom koozies, and glow sticks.
