Mountains of Highlands in NC
November 14, 2014 | Tia and Danny
Tia and Danny’s wedding was an absolute DREAM – from the amazing picturesque venue to the sweet Southern details… I was so in love with their style!
One thing that we definitely weren’t expecting – taking a group of Floridians on a destination wedding to the mountains of Highlands, NC in mid-November. I guess we really take for granted that it’s not 90 degrees all year long in other places! I brought one scarf (which is the only one I own, and I think it’s more for decoration than warmth) and was regretting my decision not to invest in fingerless gloves during formals – where the temperature was a balmy 20 degrees!
At once point, I couldn’t feel my face. But it was awesome!
The wedding events actually took place inside with crackling fireplaces and cozy mix-matched chairs. The bridesmaids wore a custom ensemble of gold sequins and pink tulle skirts, with a fur shawl for the outside. Tia had a stunner ballgown – a Lazaro designer creation from The Collection in Winter Park, FL, with accents by Maria Elena.
The decor and design was a true collaboration between the bride, her mother and Rachel from An Affair to Remember! One of my favorite pieces was a custom-made hanging chandelier of gold leaves that Rachel and Kristen (from AATR) made to hang over the bride and groom’s place-setting. The mother of the bride actually created all of the chalkboard signs, and they included sweet monogrammed touches throughout, even the cloth napkins!
Tia’s bouquet was a mixture of pinks and peaches, with a pink crushed velvet wrap.
The day wouldn’t have been quite complete without incorporating Tia’s sweet pup, Talulah – who was an honorary flower girl!
