Plantation Oaks Wedding

January 7, 2017  |  Brittney and Roger

Walking in to 2017 with this couple was absolute perfection! It was my first time visiting Plantation Oaks Farm in Callahan, Florida, and my first time officially meeting Roger and Brittney! With their family heirloom and eclectic style, I knew we’d have a day full of hand-made details – from embroidered table centerpieces (including an “I know” Star Wars Millennium Falcon) and homemade preserves made by Roger himself!

To save Roger the embarrassment, I’m going to keep the “how they met” story to myself – unless Brittney wants to risk a lifetime of  side-eye, I’ll happily keep him on my good side! So let’s skip ahead to their proposal! I love when proposals start with a lie! Roger asked Brittney to join him at a park where her grandparents used to take her for some “family photos”. Surrounded by family and close friends, when it was their “turn” to take a picture, Roger got down on one knee and proposed! Actually, Brittney tells it way better… so let me share her words about this magical moment:

“…he pulled the ring out, got down on his knee and did the damn thing!”

And that, in a nutshell, explains Brittney and Roger! They’re feisty, lovable, culinary travelers that worship good company and good food!

The details of the day were sentimental and fun! Roger’s ‘grooms cake’ was a wooden cutting board and steak, they used a gorgeous classic car for their rice-exit getaway, Brittney had a spider brooch on her gown and we shivered together under huge oak trees surrounded by llamas. Brittney’s flowers had my favorite – king proteas – and they included a nod to their love of the country with wooden barrels and boots!

They celebrated their wedding with a honeymoon to San Francisco (my favorite!!) where I’m sure they ate well and celebrated life together!
