Reunion Resort Wedding

‘Anna & Houston Week’ ends with the perfect wedding day – complete with lightning, rain and lots of thundering love!
Let’s start by talking about Anna and Houston! They met Anna’s freshman year at Samford University in Alabama. Houston’s best friend Michael, had an adorable little sister, Anna! So Houston did what any great best friend would do… he asked Michael if he could take Anna out one day! Michael said yes, since Houston’s a pretty cool guy, and here we are… years later… for an amazing Southern wedding with touches of whimsy!
The wedding day started when I almost got struck by lightning.
Ok, well so my car was next to a small tree at a stop sign that got struck by lightning – but I screamed, drove through the stop-sign and ran into the house where Anna was getting ready with my heart jumping out of my skin. So I knew it would be an awesome day :)
Anna chose a color palette of mint, gold and ivory, accenting with gorgeous succulents and english roses. Brandee did an amazing job converting the ballroom into a phenomenal “plan B” because of the rain – with floor to ceiling draping, an absolutely jaw-dropping chandelier, lighting and the perfect stage for The Leonard Brothers to rock out to all night! There were nearly 350 guests at their black-tie wedding to wish Anna and Houston a lifetime of celebrations!
I’m sort of sad to close out Anna and Houston’s engagement journey with their wedding blog, because I just adore them and their families so much! But I hope I get to be part of their next big adventures and all the amazing things that are in store for them!

Anna wore the most beautiful lace robe from Girl With a Serious Dream! True story, the brains behind GWASD is a previous client of mine, Anita, and sent me some of her beautiful creations for a shoot I was doing with Solutions Bridal! They loved them as much as I did and took them for a trial run in the store. They sold like hot-cakes and now they’re an official carrier of these amazing robes! Check out her website (I got to shoot the look-book for her recently!) and all of the gorgeous designs!
One of my favorite shots of the day was this moment with Anna in the limo. Pouring down rain and stuck in I-4 traffic… you’d never even know it. She was so excited to marry Houston… nothing else mattered.
Being a traditional, Southern bride and groom, Houston and Anna did a “first touch” at the church. Their excitement was the cutest EVER.

The rain let up for our formals, and created the most outstanding sunset and dusk sky I’ve ever seen.
Their reception room reveal was the first peek at the amazing styling by Brandee Gaar and her team!
I took about 100 photos of this stunning Chandelier by Signature Chandeliers. So obsessed.
Then came the big surprise! Anna and Michael (her brother, and Houston’s best friend), choreographed fun dance!
