This is the beginning of a crazy-fun weekend in Washington DC to celebrate Betsy and Julian! When they originally started planning, they were interested in booking a wedding in Orlando. It felt like the minute they booked with us, COVID hit and all their plans were suddenly cancelled. After a little bit of time went by, I got the exciting Wedding 2.0 email and we started to plan for their whirlwind destination weekend in their now-hometown of DC!

Since I had weddings in Orlando all weekend, I flew up one of my associates and enlisted the help of Reema (my first-ever right-hand-girl, wittiest friend and photographer) who was now also living in DC! They met up with Betsy and Julian on Saturday morning for a sunrise engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial.

A balmy 36 degrees didn’t keep us from shooting – although Julian (a Miami-native) gave us a couple of windy-eye-watering looks. They kept each other warm by nuzzling up and being sweet while Kellen and Reema dodged all of the other people at the memorial.

Turns out that the Lincoln Memorial is sentimental to Julian and Betsy’s relationship. Early on when they first started dating, they had gone on a date one night and they ended up at the Lincoln Memorial afterwards. While there, a bystander asked if they would like a picture together, to which they declined. So we were thrilled to finally give them their Lincoln Memorial memories!

Another sweet moment they wanted to include was to exchange gifts to each other on the steps of the monument.

Since their rehearsal dinner was that evening and wedding the next day, they wanted to have some private time together to open their wedding gifts to each other!
