Las Vegas Wedding

July 9, 2011  |  Shakella and Jazz

I’ve written this blog in my head a hundred times already, but how do you find the words to thank someone you barely know for becoming one of your closest friends? For saving your sanity (on more occasion than one) and for reminding you exactly why you do what you do. When I met Shakella and Jazz, we joked about how she was always Facebook stalking my fan page, and her attempt at planning a wedding in less than 3 months just to get married while I was already on a planned trip out to Los Angeles.

But after meeting them for their engagement session in Palos Verdes, I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding. When she told me they had chosen to get married in July in Las Vegas, I was there. She didn’t even have to ask. I had never been to Vegas and wanted to join them for their dream wedding.

It ended up being so much more than that.

Back to Orlando

When I got off the plane back in Orlando from that amazing long weekend in Nevada, I actually started to cry (just a little), because I missed my new friends. I missed their family and the warm way that they all welcomed Anthony and I so generously in to their celebration of love. It’s so rare to meet people that have so much heart – but Shakella and Jazz were every bit as amazing as I had ever imagined. I could seriously go on and on about our trip, but I can’t quite find the words to thank them enough – so as much as I’d like to try, I don’t think it will ever be as much as I mean. In many ways, Vegas saved me. How often do you get to say that?

So to Shakella, Jazz, DaJion, Arae’ and ‘Baby Jazz’ – I miss you guys like crazy and can’t wait until our next Skype date :) With all my heart, thank you for taking me in to your family :)

(and as an aside, to my amazing fiance, Anthony – thank you for all the fun, romance and Wicked Spoon in Vegas! Thank you for “second shooting”, for late-night Soda and Cheese runs and for reminding me how great these last 5 years have been with you!)

Review by Shakella

I also wanted to share this review that Shakella posted, because it really touched my heart :) Thank you!

“This review is about Kristen Weaver the person-I will also talk a bit about her photography. I found Kristen on Facebook via my fiance’ (Now husband). I was able to book her for our engagement session when she was already on travel to Los Angeles. After our E-session I just knew I had to have her for our “destination” wedding in Vegas.

We worked out all the details and even approaching the day of travel Kristen was still in contact with me.

Our 1st night in Vegas we meet for a “planning meeting”- we talked all night like we were old friends from college. We talked about everything… we looked up at 1am and realized we were the only people left in the restaurant. She made my husband and I feel so comfortable. Kristen invited us to breakfast the next morning at “Wicked Spoon”- unfortunately we were unable to make it (You owe US!)

The whole time Kristen and I were together it felt like we’ve known each other for years on end. She was with me up until I got in my car at Valet to go to the venue. Kristen stepped out of the role as a photographer and became a friend – for that I am ever grateful!  NOW- the meat and potatoes!!! SHE is a WONDERFUL photographer… EVERYTHING she touches turns to gold without a doubt. My husband and I are not photogenic people but you feel some comfortable with Kristen that it just “HAPPENS”.  Kristen got all the “details” about the wedding venue and about things I wanted to see as far as photography and she was fabulous!

Anyone who comes across her website or Facebook page will fall in love with her work. We are planning a 1-year anniversary party and guess who will be present??? KRISTEN WEAVER of course!!!!”
