Hammock Beach Wedding in Palm Coast, FL
May 10, 2014ย |ย Paige and Doug
Since I had such a fun engagement shoot with Paige and Doug (ending with them jumping in their pool and popping champagne), I knew it was going to be an amazing time for their wedding! Their bridal party was just as fun and silly as they are, and with moments of sweetness and emotional-ness (is that a word?) it was a perfect combination for the ultimate wedding day!
Paige and Doug met while they were both at UF – but it took a game-day bus ride to New Orleans for the LSU-UF game for them to really connect! Doug carefully planned out his proposal to Paige when they were planning a trip over Easter back to New Orleans for a friend’s wedding. I could TRY to explain their proposal, but Paige actually explained it far better than I ever could – so I’m going to share her story:
How We Met
“Easter Sunday rolls around and Doug and I are about to head to church at the St. Louis Cathedral. The church service was one I’ll never forget. Everything from the homily, to the hymns, to Doug being blessed by the priest during communion, it was absolutely beautiful! Easter has always been my favorite holiday, but this was already turning out to be one of the best. As we left church we started to walk towards the middle of the courtyard to take our “picture.” The church bells started to go off and I of course stopped to try and take a video, but Doug somewhat insistently said, “Let’s go.”
He grabbed my hand and started to lead me to the middle of the courtyard. I could feel his hands start to shake and he squeezed my hand tight. His walk started to slow and I got a glimpse of this painting propped up on an easel. It was a guy proposing to a girl with the Cathedral in the background. But it wasn’t just any proposal painting… It was a girl in my exact outfit, a blonde guy in his exact suit, and at that moment, it clicked what was about to happen. Of course the waterworks and emotions started on my end, while still trying to just take it all in. Doug clearly put his heart and a lot of thought into this special moment and I am so very very blessed!”
About the Wedding
Their beach wedding was a beautiful day of celebration and family! Everyone gathered at Hammock Beach Resort for a weekend together, highlighted by their wedding and super-party reception! Everything was so pretty (cue the 100 photos of their flowers and candle-wall)! Paige and Doug kept everything simple and beautiful – highlighting their day with taupe TwoBirds Bridesmaid gowns, orchids and candlelit-everything. They had a unique candle-wall and the cross at the ceremony was expertly created by their florist, Rachael Kasie Designs!
Altogether, the reception was just a huge, fantastic party – complete with the Leonard Brothers Band and an official “crazy hour” with grilled cheese sandwiches (yes, I had one) and glow-stick necklaces! Since it took us about 30 minutes to get everyone to leave for their exit, we weren’t exactly surprised when we showed up at the bar at the resort to find over half the guests and bridal party jamming at their unofficial after-party! It was a perfect day, with a perfect group of people to share it with, in a perfect venue!
