Lindsay and Nathan are my sweet little “aquarium folk” that came all the way out to Florida from their home in Southern California for their dream destination wedding. When they chose the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa, I knew they would have the perfect backdrop for their day – until our beautiful Florida weather decided to storm all morning and afternoon – moving their picturesque ceremony location indoors.
But bless her little heart, Lindsay was so calm about the whole thing – and their wedding turned in to an amazing candlelit ceremony, highlighted with a soft rainstorm and distant thunder. It was one of my favorite ceremonies because it turned in to such a beautiful, intimate moment for them. Unexpected and unplanned, perhaps; but memorable nonetheless.
When I first met Lindsay and Nathan, it was April and I was visiting Southern CA for my best friend’s wedding in Santa Monica. We met at an aquarium for their engagement session and I almost died when Lindsay referred to them as “aquarium folk”, holding yearly passes and sharing their passion for the water with each other. But it was instantly that I noticed how connected they were – I loved how attentive Nathan was to Lindsay. They have a beautiful dynamic as a couple – trusting, relaxed and genuinely happy to be sharing these moments with each other.
I’m so happy to be sharing their wedding and all of the gorgeous details that they brought to the day. I loved some of their unconventional details – like Lindsay’s apron that she wore during the pasta hour to spare her gown from any “oopsies”, and just the fact that they had a progressive dinner! Pasta, then an hour later meats, meaning their guests could literally eat all night (plus 8, yes 8, wedding cakes)! The ended the night with a fantastic Cigar-bar and a guest romp through the gorgeous evening ocean!

Lindsay and Nathan gave Thallo Floral Design complete creative control with the flowers.
Her bouquet was absolutely stunning with some of the most beautiful and unique flowers that we’ve seen used!
The rain kept us under cover most of the day, but their First Look was still one of my favorite moments!
After the ceremony and family formals, the rain actually let up for the rest of the evening!
We had a light sprinkle for the last few shots of them, but I was dying to get them outside – the grounds are just so gorgeous!
Favorite trend: Cake buffet!! Yum!
I adored catching Lindsay outside that evening all by herself – just catching a little moment when she could.
