And though she be but little, she is fierce.

One of my most visited blog posts was from the cruise wedding of Fred and Samantha Jo. Their wedding was notable not only for being my first cruise ever, but for also being one of the absolute craziest wedding stories I’ve ever gotten to share.
Sam and Fred’s love story was truly just getting started with their wedding day. In November, they welcomed their first baby, a little boy named Knox. Although blissfully happy with his arrival, Sam wasn’t feeling herself for some time, and 8 weeks after Knox’s birth, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer with metastatic tumors on her liver.
Right around the first of the year I received an email from Sam’s mom asking if I could photograph Sam, Fred and Knox before her treatment started. I was absolutely touched to be able to give this gift to them, and even more, I was super excited to see them and meet their sweet baby boy!
When we were planning their shoot, I remembered the wings in the Milk District downtown and sent her a few photos. It’s a cool little area and she instantly loved the symbolism of the artwork. Sam and Fred really embraced the shoot – with new beginnings comes new challenges.
I’ll leave you with Sam’s Bible verse from their YouCaring site (which has already raised nearly $85k for this incredible family)…
Recent shoot I did with with Samantha Jo!
