Interview with Past Intern Erin
When talking with Kristen about her past interns, Erin was someone I was interested in getting to know. Erin was a KWP Intern in 2016, which was the first time Kristen ever had an internship program. Upon graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Cinema Studies and a minor in Mass Communication, she moved to Los Angeles to begin her professional life.
Erin and I spent a while talking about how she got to her current role as a producer.
Then, we talked about how being a KWP intern helped her to get there.
Erin explained that the most beneficial aspect of her internship with KWP was planning a styled shoot. The skills she gained of learning how to put all the pieces together for a successful shoot were transferable into her career. Erin currently produces for TechStyle Fashion Group, which is a company that owns brands including Fabletics, JustFab and ShoeDazzle. This is the first company she has worked for after graduating from the University of Central Florida. Her favorite thing about working for this company is getting to work with small team to get the job done. Also, they are always figuring out new ways to do things and accomplish tasks.
Advice from Erin
Though the internship with KWP is different in a lot of ways from her current role, she has aspects of the internship that stick out to her like the family environment at KWP. The fashion industry can be very challenging to get involved with.
Because of this, Erin and I talked about some tips for anyone looking to become a part of the industry. Specifically, the biggest piece of advice Erin gave was to have a unique-looking resume. For example, adding a fun facts about yourself that will make you stand out from the other applicants. I had such a wonderful time getting to know Erin, and I look forward to seeing what she does in the future.
