“I am absolutely in love with what I do and I am super blessed to be where I am at right now!” – Jillian Caro
The words I would use to describe Jillian Caro would be humble, honest and talented. Jillian has been working as a makeup artist and hairstylist for 11 years! This begs the question, why? Why choose to do this with your life? Jillian responded, “I like the satisfaction of making someone feel beautiful!” She began doing her own eyebrows and her family as well as friends noticed. They thought it looked amazing and asked her to do theirs! Soon after that Jillian’s mother helped her look into makeup more and bought her makeup sets as gifts.
Many ask the question, “Why would you move from New York to Florida?” When Jillian moved to Florida she hadn’t really started her business yet so it was easy for her to pick up and go.
Jillian wanted a better environment to raie her family.
She worked as a freelance makeup artist and as a hairstylist in a salon but paying fifty percent of her income to rent a space in someone else’s salon wasn’t very appealing.
This is why Jillian took the plunge to start her own business. Now – owning her own salon in Central Florida and doing what she loves.
I had the opportunity to ask Jillian a few more questions about her everyday life as a makeup artist and hairstylist.
Q: What are you mainly hired to do?
A: I am hired to do hair and makeup for weddings, photoshoots and even fashion week in New York!
Q: Do you do special effects makeup?
A: I don’t really do special effects BUT I do artistic makeup – as in high fashion!;)
Q: What makes you compatible with your clients?
A: My personality, the work we do is personal and if I am unavailable to a client I have multiple other makeup artists that I can recommend. We all support each other and love each other’s work!

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring makeup artists?
A: Practice, go after everything, use social media and constantly work on your craft! See what your good at, I never thought I would do this, I went to school with the mentality of only wanting to learn how to do up-dos but there is so much more to hair: cutting, coloring and even chemistry!

Q: When did you have that “AH-HA” moment, realizing that you would do this for the rest of your life?
A: I always have this moment; it never really goes away.
