Christina found me the weirdest way. After getting engaged, she enlisted the help of one of her best friends (and bridesmaid), Danielle. Why? Well Danielle is a photographer in Ohio and she figured she might have a good recommendation for her. Danielle, who has been following me on Twitter for as long as I can remember, remembered that I’m originally from Youngstown and threw my name out there to check out. But that’s not the cool part! After my first conversation with Christina, she mentioned going to Fitch High School. When I said I went to Fitch for dance recitals (I danced for 15 years back then), she said she did too – and we were part of the exact same dance academy! But with Christina leaving dance in high school, and us being about 4 years apart in age, I didn’t remember her. But I knew that it was fate that brought us together… 2 dancers from NE Ohio :)
So for the first time in 10 years, I got to head home for Thanksgiving – spending a gorgeous weekend in November full of food and family and a beautiful wedding with Christina and Jim!
Their reception at the historic 1902 Youngstown Club was warm and cozy with details like lamps, picture frames and a roaring fire in the fireplace! I especially loved the way they took their love for family that has passed and incorporated it in to the reception in a fun way – by having a “candy bar” of all of their favorite things! From Fireman hat cookies, to candy cigarettes and potato chips – it gave such a sweet way to remember them and include them in their wedding.
The weather was amazing, and the company was even better! I had such a fantastic time with Christina and her girls, and was thrilled to see Jim and Christina, along with Jim’s 2 kids, start their new lives together!
