Shannon and Will are the typical “boy meets girl, girl falls in love, but is engaged to someone else” love story. Shannon and Will’s families are long time friends, and their parents were coaxing them both to get together since they were attending college in the same town.
It took a little persuading, but Shannon and Will finally met – and from that minute she felt an instant connection. However, Shannon was in a serious relationship so they stayed friends and kept in touch. Shannon actually moved away for grad school and got engaged… but it took that engagement for her to realize something wasn’t right. As Shannon puts it “sometimes, it takes the brain a minute to catch up with the heart”. A year after calling off the engagement, Shannon moved back home to find Will, and their connection was still as strong as ever.
Now, where do I come in?
Well, Shannon had actually hired me to photograph her wedding and I was so bummed to hear when they called it off. But a while later, Shannon’s mom reached back out to me and asked if I could travel to SC because Shannon had met her perfect mate and they were planning a wedding!
This was my first trip to Greenville, SC and I loved everything about it!
We were there during a big street fair, so the energy was fun and lively! We started our trip with their rehearsal dinner with perfect rooftop views of downtown the night before the wedding. Gabby and I indulged in some great southern-style cooking (and Philly cheesesteaks, for some reason) and chocolate lava cakes from the hotel lobby.
On the wedding day, we got to meet up with Kaleb (one half of KEJ Productions) for an interesting truck ride to the venue. When we pulled up to the Poinsett Club, we were met with towering magnolias flanking this historic venue. The inside was exactly what you’d imagine of a high-class southern soiree, with indulgent wallpapers and gold-rimmed paintings. After getting ready, they boarded a trolley to head to the First Presbyterian Church of Downtown Greenville. Originally built in 1851, this stunning old church was the perfect spot for their ceremony!
They thought of everything to make their wedding day perfect; from the bright fall color palette full of shades of peach and oranges, to Will’s custom feather bow-tie and boots. The front door to the venue was adorned with a gorgeous deconstructed floral arch. The reception had casual open seating with a reserved head table. The band played the evening away as guests danced and drank to celebrate Will and Shannon!
