Baby Oliver is here, and his family welcomed him home with the cutest hockey themed newborn session! I have photographed Chloe and Thomas since their engagement, through their wedding and the births of their two daughters. Most recently, we celebrated with a maternity session just before he arrived. Getting to meet their first boy felt like the best kind of full circle moment.
Hockey themed newborn session decor
Chloe and Thomas went all in on the hockey theme for Oliver, and it makes total sense. Hockey runs deep in this family. Thomas plays, and so does Oliver’s oldest sister. Everyone is hoping those hockey genes get passed right down to the newest member of the team.
The decor gave the whole session such a fun, personal feel. A hockey themed newborn session lets baby’s very first photos show off his family’s favorite sport. Who knows? Maybe one day we will all be cheering him on at an Orlando Solar Bears game.
Why I love in-home newborn sessions
In-home sessions are my favorite way to photograph newborns. Babies stay calm in their own space. Parents don’t have to pack up a diaper bag and a brand new baby and rush out the door. Snacks are close by, naps happen when they happen, and nobody feels hurried.
I just follow the family’s lead and capture real life as it unfolds. For a family I have known this long, it felt like visiting old friends. Old friends with a brand new baby to snuggle!
