My Internship with KWP: Shannon

I can’t believe that it has already been 6 months and that my internship with KWP is coming to an end! This experience was not one I was expecting to have. I remember sitting in my bed one morning, thinking to myself that I really need to start looking for internships. When I came across Kristen’s business and after all the stalking of her instagram, facebook, website, and blog, I knew this was the internship I absolutely needed to have! I’ve learned so much about not only the wedding industry but also about running a business. There has never been a dull moment in the office with everyone! Every time I walked into the studio, I never knew what to expect. From kittens running around, to music blaring for a styled shoot, it was always a good time!

Assisting on a Wedding

During my internship with KWP, one of our requirements was to be an assistant on a wedding. I ended up getting the opportunity to assist on a beautiful Bella Colina wedding and I loved every second of it! I spent my time switching out Kristen’s camera lenses, making sure the bride’s veil floated in the wind perfectly, and setting off my first confetti canon! It was such a magical experience that I will never forget!

My Styled Shoot

For our final project we had to create a styled wedding shoot from start to finish. It all started with a simple Pinterest board and from that it turned into an actual wedding shoot! I was given the freedom to do whatever I wanted, from choosing the vendors to creating the entire concept. My shoot was held at Haus 820 in Lakeland, Florida and incorporated bright colors with tons of fun elements! I learned so much during this experience and got a first hand look of what it takes to create a styled shoot. All of the vendors that I worked with were absolutely amazing and I am so glad I got the opportunity to meet and work with each and every one of them. They really helped bring y vision to life for this shoot!

 

I want to thank Kristen for such an amazing internship! This internship with KWP has taught me so much and I will always remember this experience! I went into this internship not expecting to come out with all the knowledge I have now. I’ve learned so much about photography, the wedding industry, and what really goes into running your own business. With that, I can’t wait to see what’s to come!
