Shakella and Jazz had a beautiful tropical vow renewal in Mexico to celebrate their ten year anniversary… and I got to go! This isn’t the first time I have traveled to shoot with them either. I first met Shakella and Jazz over ten years ago. They flew me out to California, where they live, to shoot their engagement session at one of the oldest bowling alleys in Southern California! After meeting them at their engagement session, I knew I just had to be part of their wedding in Las Vegas!
Their wedding in Las Vegas was perfect – Anthony and I spent a lot of time with Shakella and Jazz and we quickly became fast friends! They were even guests at our wedding 5 years ago!
As they started to plan for their 10 year vow renewal, they contacted me to see if we were up for a trip to tropical Mexico! They were looking at the stylish Unico 20 87 and so we excitedly snagged a first-floor room with our very own swim-up pool! After a short flight to Cancun and LONG drive down to Riviera Maya, we arrived at this luxury resort and were ready to relax!
Their “wedding day” was even more beautiful than I could have imagined. Celebrating 10 years of ups and downs, sicknesses and health, 5 children (2 adopted) and so much more – it was so emotional! They re-committed their lives to each other in front of 20 of their closest friends and family in a quaint little carve-out section by the ocean. Surrounded by lush, tropical foliage and all of their guests in white, they cried and laughed during the tender ceremony!
Just a note to anyone considering a wedding in Mexico in July – it. was. hot. Ok, moving along!
After some photos around the property, the guests were treated to a modern and stylish wedding reception on the terrace. Market lights covered the area, where they had clear acrylic chairs, white and blue floral and tropical palms adorning the tables. Their first dance ended with a surprise cold-sparkler celebration.
After a gourmet meal prepared by the chef at Unico, we PARTIED. A 360 photo booth was a highlight at the reception, and some other resort guests partied right along with us from their balconies!
After celebrating the night away we did a morning after shoot on the beach, and a sister photoshoot before Shakella and Jazz headed off to their second honeymoon at TRS Coral!
