The first photoshoot in this historic Florida venue, our jewel-toned and velvet design perfectly complimented the old romance of The Howey Mansion. This is the final project for KWP Interns 2017, Kaila and Makayla, who conceptualized, designed and executed this unbelievably gorgeous wedding.
‘The World Awaits’ Inspiration Shoot
Howey Mansion Wedding | Courtney & Khoury
The idea for this styled shoot was an old-world style with an updated feel. Two things instantly inspired our shoot, first – our incredible venue, The Historic Howey Mansion, and second – our bride and groom! The mansion restoration was incredible. We fell in love with everything as soon as we pulled into the driveway. It was just the type of “vintage romance” we were looking for. Nothing could top this 1920’s palace. We admired the natural elegance and beauty that both the building and its grounds emitted. Every inch of this beautiful mansion screamed romance, like the old chandeliers and mixed-tile terrace. We wanted to design our shoot to enhance it’s natural beauty.
Being the very first shoot at the Howey Mansion, we wanted to capture its authenticity and let its beauty speak for itself. The floral team from Raining Roses Productions blew us completely away. From the bouquets to the elaborate centerpieces, to the candelabras at the altar, to even the cutest floral collar for Max, they couldn’t have done a better job bringing our vision to life. RW Style created a stunning emerald lounge area in the ballroom – and it was the perfect representation of our theme… vintage, velvet and jewel tones. And we can’t forget to mention the avocado bar from Arthur’s catering that we’re all still dreaming of.
Our Inspiration
Our focus for this shoot was a darker romance. We used velvet with deep jewel tone colors and black accents for an intimate feel. We loved the idea of having a real couple, so when Khoury and Courtney shared their story with us we knew they were a perfect fit. They got married in a courthouse ceremony because of Khoury’s job in the US Navy. This inspired us to give them both the wedding they always dreamed about having. And what would a wedding be without family? It was a very special day for Courtney’s mother, who got to celebrate her birthday with us!
We had almost a whole wedding party with Courtney’s cousins who served as bridesmaids, the most adorable flower girl, Jojo, and our velvet flower puppy, Max… who totally stole the show. Courtney even got to wear a dreamy long-sleeved lace gown from Calvet Couture Bridal. We also wanted to do a something unique for our bride and groom, so Nicole from Florida Sweets and Co. created two miniature cakes for them. We couldn’t have done this without the help of our amazing planner Brandee Gaar and all the other awesome vendors that truly saw our vision and made it a reality. The world awaits our (not so newly) married couple, Khoury and Courtney.
And like many married couples, Courtney and Khoury’s family grew by 2 shortly after this shoot – adopting 2 of The Pixel Fund kittens that we had been fostering! We’ve loved watching Lando and Spock (formerly Wheat Thin and Saltine) grow over Courtney’s Instagram stories!
