Elegant Garden Party at this Howey Mansion Wedding
February 16, 2019 | Katie & Matt Sneak Peek
Katie and Matt had a GORGEOUS wedding at Howey Mansion this past Saturday. I met Katie at another one of my couples wedding where Katie was a bridesmaid and I immediately loved her kind bubbly personality! This was a sentiment that was shared throughout the night of both Katie and Matt. They are so amazingly sweet, kind and thankful for everyone and everything. I am so thrilled I got to spend the most beautiful day with them and their families.
Katie and Matt first met in Norman Library back in junior year of college at The University of Florida. Katie was studying with a few friends and Matt was sitting at the table across from her. After talking to him for some time Katie left the library knowing something was special about Matt. Matt knew that he wanted to marry a woman just like Katieโฆ little did he know at the time he would end up marrying that Katie.
Katie and Matt started dating a few months after that and continued to date despite a 6-month internship in Miami and Katie moving to three different states in the following two years. Matt started law school at the University of Florida two years into the relationship and Katie decided she wanted to pursue a career in medical device sales. With new responsibilities, they knew they would have to work hard to maintain the long-distance relationship. Katie accepted an awesome job opportunity in Atlanta, Georgia, and Matt applied to law firms within the city. After a summer internship in Atlanta, he accepted a job offer. Now, more than five years after meeting in the halls of Normal Library, long commutes, and late night phone calls, they are starting their new adventure as a new couple in the ATL.
New York Proposal
The weekend of December 15th 2017 Katie and Matt booked a trip to see New York City at Christmas time. Katie had always wanted to see the city all decorated for the holidays. That Saturday morning Matt had made reservations for brunch at The Loeb BoatHouse Restaurant in Central Park. After brunch Katie and Matt went on a stroll through Central Park where he popped the big question in front of Bethesda Fountain! They spent the rest of the afternoon celebrating in the Big City with the Roberts Family.
They wanted to accentuate the beauty of Howey mansion and the organic “Florida” feel. The history of the mansion in the old Florida orange groves was a perfect place to start with their decor. They had muted orange and green accents with a “citrus Italian wedding” theme with lots of greenery everywhere!
