Shades of blue and a lawn ceremony were the perfect compliment to this chilly November Hammock Beach wedding for Chicago couple, Jessica and Luke!

I have been waiting for so long to finally meet Jessica and Luke! After “meeting” through Instagram, Jessica and I have been chatting about their wedding day, and the love for their sweet little pup, Brees (who also has his own instagram!). Although they’re currently living in Chicago, Jessica is a long-time visitor of Hammock Beach with her family, and she decided that’s where she would get married. It’s a good thing her heart was set on a lawn ceremony, because it was a blistery 50-something degrees on Saturday! Although we were pretty chilled, Jessica (goose-bumps and all), had a constant smile on her face! She was so excited and it was absolutely infectious!
Getting to their wedding day was a journey that’s been almost 7 years in the making!
Starting at a high school football game and lasting through long distances, Purdue losses, and lots of cooking together – Luke made it official with a completely surprise proposal!
Hammock Beach Wedding
For years Jessica has visited Hammock Beach Resort with her family. Her dad mentioned she had always wanted to get married there, so regardless of the weather, temperature or anything else – she was bound and determined to have her dream wedding!
Although it was a super overcast and cold day (well, for us Floridians!), there wasn’t a drop of rain and their happiness kept us all warm!
I loved their palette of soft blues, grays and greenery! At the reception, they celebrated Brees with a signature cocktail, and their love of desserts with an amazing donut and sugar table! The dance floor was full all night, the photo booth was packed, and we loved sending them off with a bright sparkler exit!
They’ll be doing a delayed honeymoon and traveling to the Caribbean in January! I’m sure it will be an amazing break from the cold Chicago winter!
