Karla and Joe’s Dr. Phillips wedding was straight out of an editorial shoot. From the classic and timeless Catholic Church ceremony to the modern and luxurious reception, there was no shortage of stunning details that our amazing team, headed by Lisa Lyons, didn’t plan!
Shooting their engagement session, rehearsal dinner, and now wedding… we absolutely love being able to capture all these special moments for our couple. Starting with my first conversation with Karla, I knew we would be an amazing team. We connected on all things fashion and were so excited to see our ideas turn in to this amazing outcome!
Karla is a fashion designer for the bridal brand Martina Liana, so she designed all THREE of her custom wedding gowns. From a classic long sleeve ballgown, to her modern mermaid with detachable skirt, and a bodycon beaded party dress, Karla had it all. Her pearl clutch was designed by Cult Gaia. Which perfectly matched her Jimmy Choo wedding shoes. Her husband Joe also had an outfit change. He looked as debonair as ever with his Giorgio Armani tuxedo and his Christian Louboutin dress shoes. For the reception, he changed jackets to an ivory fitted tuxedo.
Editorial meets chic at this Dr Phillips Wedding
The day began at the brand new AC Hotel in downtown Orlando with Karla and Joe getting ready. Joe surprised Karla with three pair diamond earrings – one for each of her ear piercings. The ceremony was held at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park. They had a full mass and Karla walked down the aisle with her father in her ballgown wedding dress. As the ceremony ended, the guests were given ribbon wands while the newlyweds exit the church. After portraits, we returned to the AC hotel where Karla changed into her second dress – a fitted embroidered gown with a detachable skirt.
The reception at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando is impeccable with baby’s breath clouds, open roses, candlelight and black and gold accents. Traditional drummers escorted the couple into the reception for their grand entrance. As they did their first dance on the LED dance floor they had fog and cold sparks. Fyerfly productions did all of their special effects including an amazing confetti canon that had everyone dancing the night away!
