I know some of you are asking yourself “What is an anti bride?” The anti-bride is basically when you do whatever the F you want. There are no limits, no rules, and certainly not traditional. However, you can still have traditional moments because like I said you can do whatever you want! This anti-bride story is about Mia and Jay. As I rolled up to their engagement session in Baldwin Park I passed them on the side of the road. Now, I had never met them before but I had a feeling they were my couple from the look of their elevated outfits.
I instantly got inspired by Mia’s asymmetrical mini dress and Jay’s maroon suit. They looked so good and Jay never let Mia think otherwise. Anytime I had them look at each other or when I took solo shots of Mia Jay would be cheering her on and telling her how beautiful she is. It was the cutest thing! Throughout their engagement session, we chatted about how they met, the vendors they had booked, and their overall style for the wedding. I quickly realized I might be Mia and Mia might be me. Just kidding! But we do have the same style!
What Does an Anti-Bride Wedding Look Like?
I would consider Mia and Jay’s wedding to be editorial and timeless. Her dress was b-e-a-utiful! The sleek fabric perfectly draped over her shoulders leaving her natural beauty to shine. I loved that she kept everything super versatile and used accessories that she could wear again. I’m all about that recycled style! Her earrings were pearled hoops-ish from Anthro and I am obsessed. Mia’s not the only one who came to slay. Jay and his boys rolled up style before getting cleaned up in their sharp black suits.
This was actually a destination wedding for a lot of their guests including Jay and Mia. They came all the way from Chicago, Illinois! Their proposal is what inspired them to get married at Bella Collina. Jay proposed to Mia on a trip to Florence Italy where they originally thought of tying the knot. But due to logistics, they decided to bring Italy to them! Bella Collina was the perfect Tuscany backdrop for their Italian wedding dreams! Beautifully lit with candles on long vineyard tables and minimal floral pieces, they kept their outdoor reception timeless.
The Coldest Day of the Week
Mia and her girls held up strong as it was one of the coldest days of the week and poor Mia was a trooper for photos. Thankfully, there were countless outdoor heaters for the reception. Although after the 30 shots of tequila, Jay was handing out I’m sure everyone was pretty warm. Anytime Jay disappeared from the dance floor he was spotted at the bar getting shots for the party people. They even took the cutest pre-wedding shot before the ceremony since they weren’t doing a first look.
Every detail of Mia and Jay’s wedding was perfectly curated to fit their personalities and the couple as a whole. She didn’t have this magnificent glam look or a typical wedding dress. Their details were pronounced but minimal. They kept everything very natural and true to who they were. Mia and Jay if you are reading this (I hope you are *wink), we absolutely loved capturing your day! It was fun, and stylish and made us feel super grateful. We are so happy for you guys!
