I first photographed Nicole and Ryan on their wedding day at the Omni Orlando. This iconic NYC family session felt like a sweet full circle. Ryan now pitches for the New York Yankees, and Nicole is getting ready to welcome their third baby. I usually see them when they’re in Tampa, but visiting during his season was such a treat.
Planning an iconic NYC family session for the girls
Nicole wanted photos that felt unmistakably New York, so the girls could look back on this chapter. How cool is it to grow up with a dad who plays for the Yankees?! We started in Carl Schurz Park with its leafy paths and old stone steps. Next, we strolled the promenade along the East River with the bridges behind us. Finally, we wrapped up with crosswalks, yellow cabs and brick rowhouses on East End Avenue.
Matching black tees and sparkly sneakers
The whole family wore black tees, jeans and white sneakers, and the girls rocked sparkly high tops. Simple outfits let the city do the talking. Dorka Jones did Nicole’s hair and makeup, and she looked stunning. Meanwhile, Ryan jumped right in, flipping the girls upside down and carrying them on his shoulders. As a result, their giggles made my job so easy.
Nicole and Ryan also got us amazing seats to my first ever Yankees game! Cheering for someone I’ve known since his engagement session was such a thrill. I may be a Yankees fan for life now.
