This big Greek wedding celebration saw the joining together of an amazing couple with their 5 children (and 5 dogs!). Family was at the front of the festivities, and we can’t wait to watch them settle in to married life!
A Big Greek Wedding in Lake Mary
January 13, 2018ย | ย Christen & Elias
Family is quite possibly the most important part of your day when you’re planning a big Greek wedding. Luckily for us, from the proposal to the last dance, family was the biggest part of Christen and Elias’ union. After meeting at work and both going through difficult divorces at the same time, Christen and Elias found solace in each other. Initially, Christen was nervous about meeting his children (he has 5), but quickly realized how much they were meant to be a family together. When Elias proposed, he took Christen to her Nana – who was in a nursing home suffering from dementia – and asked her for her permission before proposing to Christen right there in her Nana’s room. Her Nana passed away a few months later, but Elias captured the entire thing on his phone so Christen will always have it with her.
A relaxed wedding day
For the wedding day, Christen and Elias both got ready at their home with their friends and family (separately) before heading to the church. They have 5 pitbulls, and she said it calmed her to have them with her that morning! Her hair and makeup artist took her edgy style and matched it with her traditional Greek heritage. Following their traditional Catholic ceremony, they toasted their guests at their wedding – saying this was a party, not for them, but for all the people who have supported and loved them over these past few years. Then, Christen took to the microphone to give a beautiful and heartfelt speech – vowing to each of his children to love, respect and always honor them as her own. In a surprise third toast, Elias’ 5 kids gave a toast to Christen – with each of them taking the microphone to make their own vow to her. From listening to her advice, to always making her laugh and to love her – everyone was so touched by their speech!
The night ended with a LOT of greek dancing and great food and drinks! They had an avocado bar, flaming donuts and an amazing plated dinner from Arthur’s Catering.
Following their wedding, they were off to Miami for a mini-honeymoon before heading on a bigger trip to Greece during their warmer season!
