Backyard New Year’s Eve Wedding
December 31, 2016 | Kate and Joshua
Our last wedding of 2016. What a night it was! This backyard New Year’s Eve wedding was pure sophistication mixed with a kicking party and topped with some amazing food and fireworks!
I actually met Kate when I was photographing her sister’s wedding a few years ago! As the oldest of the Devine clan, I was thrilled to meet the man who stole her heart! Who knew it would take traveling across the world to find him! Sitting next to each other on a bus in Israel, touring the city and soaking up the spiritual culture, Kate and Joshua knew there was a spark! After returning to the US, Kate and Joshua started their long-distance relationship until he finally moved to Florida to be with her!
Their wedding was a complete transformation of Kate’s parents home! The lakeside backyard was completed changed to be a lakeside ceremony space, the pool was covered for an incredible acrylic dancefloor, a stage added for the band, and seating for 200 – plus their home was opened with floor to ceiling entry to lots of amazing food stations – like hand-rolled sushi and an avocado bar!
One of the sweetest moments of the evening was their private foot-washing ceremony. On his trip to Israel (where he first met Kate), he collected water from the Jordan River. He told Kate that, one day, he would use that water to wash his new bride’s feet as his first act of service to her. Little did they both know, that they would share that moment together.
The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display and flaming smores to celebrate the New Year! Joshua and Kate drove away in a Ferrari and celebrated their first week married in Isla Mujeres, Mexico!
