Why Work at A Bridal Store?
My interview with The Collection Bridal
“When I got engaged I became obsessed with the dress process, the shapes, and silhouettes.” – Jessica Fama
Jessica Fama is the Director of Brand Marketing and a Bridal Stylist at The Collection Bridal located in Winter Park. Jessica fell in love with the bridal world while planning her own wedding. She would stay up late at night looking at dresses on the Knot app. Soon after moving here with her husband and helping him start his own business, Jessica followed and went to work for The Collection Bridal!
As a stylist Jessica works with many unforgettable brides but one story will forever touch her heart. One of her clients got married this past May. The Bride knew she wanted to wear a Vera Wang gown.
“As we went through the appointment and she found her dress it was an emotional moment for her because she never thought this moment was ever going to happen.
She had leukemia throughout her childhood and she thanked me saying, ‘I envisioned this day as a little girl and my family never thought I would get to this day’”. She will never forget this day.
Q: What is your favorite part about your job at The Collection Bridal?
A: I love the process, creating a look for a bride and putting your own spin on it!
Q: Who blew you awake at bridal week?
A: Inbal Dror! One of our top designers did a whole new look and they were amazing. Using different styles, colors, “naked not being lined”, detail and handwork. During bridal week in April Carolina Herrera really blew us away.
Q: How do you approach a new bride coming in?
A: Never judge a book by its cover. I go through a registration process then sit down and get to know our brides. Please bring a Pinterest board, tell me how you met and share your vision!
Q: How has TV shows effected how you do your job?
A: Girls bring an entourage and it’s the worst thing that you can do. The show makes it seem like its great to have all these people with you but just bring 2-3 people whose opinion you value the most! Not drama, this keeps it special and intimate.
Q: Is there an up and coming wedding trend that you’re in love with??
A: Metallic’s are a huge trend for bridal parties right now! I see brides shying away from blush and champagne colors. A trend in silhouettes that I am noticing is illusion backs, an added detail.
BE BRAVE, just be you, be who you want to be, create your day around who you are!
Q: What should a stylist always keep in mind?
Listen to your brides and guide them in the right direction. You have to be able to be honest, kind and see your bride’s vision. Have fun with it everyone will get the same experience!
