April 21, 2012 | Destin, Florida

Anthony and I flew up to the Florida Panhandle in April to celebrate Stephanie and Josh’s wedding on gorgeous Destin Beach! At first, I think we were all a little skeptical about how the day would play out when it rained for hours on end, and storms delayed our flight the night before by several hours. But once we arrived at the private beach house, we realized that the only thing Stephanie and Josh truly needed was the support of their friends and family, and everything else just fell right in to place.

So was it the perfect wedding Stephanie had been dreaming of? Well, aside from just having to tent the ceremony and reception space, all of Stephanie’s DIY details made the day cozy, sweet and so family-oriented! Things didn’t go exactly as planned, but it gave Stephanie and Josh the perfect opportunity to make their own memories – and get lots of super cute umbrella pictures!

I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to drag them around a wet, rainy beach after the ceremony to get some shots with the storm overhead. There is this gorgeous mystery with stormy Gulf skies, and the colors are just mesmerizing!

Special thanks to Anthony for pinch-hitting as an awesome second shooter that weekend!

Stephanie customized her Penny Loves Kenny wedges with a crystal starfish brooch

Stephanie’s brooch bouquet included vintage heirloom pieces that had been in her family for generations!

Each bridesmaid had customized name-hangers for their bridesmaid gowns, which were designed and sewn by one of Stephanie’s bridesmaids

Stephanie customized every aspect of her wedding day, including sea-colored tulle as a peek-a-boo layer

Remember that time when we broke the bride’s dress and we made the Maid of Honor cry? Yeah. That happened.
(Sorry, I can’t be perfect ALL the time :))

Jack Daniels cuff-links were the perfect personalized touch for the men!

The rain may have kept us inside for a lot of the day, but Stephanie and Josh still did their first look with the grand entrance every bride deserves :)

One of my favorite elements were the driveway decals leading up to the house!

With storms still brewing in the gulf, Stephanie and Josh (and the entire bridal party) allowed me time to get some rainy group shots on the beach. I just couldn’t pass up the gorgeous colors. Nothing tops a Florida storm, it’s absolutely breathtaking!

A private sand-ceremony on the beach so Stephanie and Josh could share their new union

We were all pretty wet. Huge thanks to Anthony for holding an umbrella over me and all my equipment during the formals!

After a quick hair-touch up, Stephanie and Josh shared their first dance under tented twinkle lights

Finally, the rain stopped just long enough for a sparkler exit to a black Ford Mustang convertible!
