Riviera Maya Wedding at the Grand Velas

Getting to join Pilly and Mat for their Grand Velas wedding was nothing short of an incredible dream. Although I’m typically not the type you’d find jungle-bound, I was absolutely obsessed with the resort. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve convinced to honeymoon, babymoon, and vacation there since visiting! The food, the accommodations and the SPA. Seriously – you have to go! Just trust me on this one. I’ve been to a ton of all-inclusive resorts, and this one was hands down my favorite!
When Pilly and Mat met, it was Destiny. No, seriously… they met at a nightclub called Destiny! It was both their first (and last) times there. They had a few mutual friends and just started chatting! Six years later, Mat proposed to Pilly on their first picnic. He had actually never taken her on a picnic because he knew that’s how he wanted to propose – so it was super special for both of them!
I’ve actually known Mat longer than Pilly – since his sister is one of my closest friends! I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of their family weddings and baby shoots (and now Nicole’s first pregnancy!), so I couldn’t imagine NOT being there for Mat and Pilly’s first photos as husband and wife!
Their wedding was absolutely beautiful! Some of my favorite details were actually the hand-made Maracas that traveled all the way from Florida as guest favors! All the girls hand-painted them, so it was really personalized. The reception space was beautifully decorated by one of the pools, complete with hanging market lights and giant wind-tunnel fans (August in Mexico is hot, ya’ll!)
