Fiji wedding with tropical and retro touches
Our tropical Fiji wedding inspiration comes with some bright colors, juicy details and the most stunning bridal fashion with a 60’s edge! Over the summer, I gathered the team for 3 styled shoots where we could flex some creative muscles and have a little fun during slow season! Now, before you ask, YES, slow season in Florida is the summer! Florida is SO hot and humid, so we rarely shoot local weddings during that time and usually find ourselves doing more destination weddings.
This was actually the second styled shoot in our series – a modern take on a tropical Fiji wedding with some retro touches and uniquely designed pieces.
We wanted to play on a traditional tropical wedding and give it more of a fashion-inspired vibe. So we incorporated some fun gowns to mix in with our traditional wedding dress to start! From there, we started expanding on the pop of bright colors, palm leaves and flamingos, to add some retro pieces from Events on the Loose!
We brought in non-traditional elements, like multiple cakes in the flavors Grand Marnier and Orange Buttercream, Almond Raspberry and Amaretto; a fruit bar and flamingo cookies. Our 50’s inspired drink bar from Events on the Loose featured a retro blender and copper mules, and a mimosa bar (with cleverly named drinks: Pineapple of my eye, Peach Please, and our favorite – Rico Guava). Gabby’s second and third dresses were actually from ASOS and added to our concept of a perfect rehearsal and reception gown that would allow our tropical bride to carry her theme throughout the wedding weekend.
