Citrus Crush: A Bright Floridian Inspiration Shoot

As an intern with Kristen Weaver Photography, our final project was designing and directing our own styled shoot from start to finish. I loved the idea of using bright, fun colors with citrus accents. So here is my Haus 820 wedding!

Kristen gave us every single resource we could have possibly needed, from her very own brain, which we all were constantly picking at and an amazing list of the best vendors in the area!

Getting to know each of these vendors and be surrounded by such creative individuals was such a pleasure and seeing everyone come together to help bring my vision to life was so rewarding!

Preparing for the shoot

To say that everything went smoothly would be a stretch. I spent so much time planning this shoot only to realize it was literally identical to a past intern’s styled shoot. So, I deleted my Pinterest board and started from scratch. But I am so glad that I did because I am so ecstatic with how everything came together.

For my new inspiration, I took a hard left and went for something completely different than I originally planned. I wanted bright, bold colors and I wanted to incorporate tons of citrus anywhere I could.

Here’s the inspiration that started it all:

The Venue: HAUS 820

After seeing a previous intern’s styled shoot at this venue, I knew I needed to have a Haus 820 wedding! The white bricks and concrete floors really made the bright colors of my shoot pop. They also have an amazing color wall which really tied in my whole concept a fun, vivid wedding.  Everything came together so effortlessly and the girls at the venue were so accommodating!

The Cake: Florida Sweets & Co

The only thing I really knew I wanted for the cake was for it to be a mirror glazed cake. Kristen actually came up with this idea and after looking at tons of inspiration I thought it would be such a fun element to add. After sending Nicole from Florida Sweets & Co my Pinterest board, she sent over her vision which included three different cakes ranging from one tier to three tiers. She took my inspiration and ran with it creating the most stunning cakes I have ever seen!

The Stationery: Dogwood Blossom

I came to a road block when it was time to decide on stationary. Something about this part was very difficult for me to brainstorm on. I knew I didn’t want something super traditional, I wanted it to be completely different and fun.  So after looking at different stationary artists, I chose Denise from Dogwood Blossom and I am so glad I did. All I did was shoot her an email with my Pinterest board link and she sent back so many fun and creative ideas. She really wanted to take things to the next level and I was all for it!

The Flowers: Flowers by Lesley

Since the venue was very bright and white I wanted the majority of the colors to come from the floral arrangements. Lesley saw my inspiration and knew exactly what to do. There was no stress about this part of the process because Lesley took control and all I had to do was tell her what kind of arrangements I needed. Once I went in to pick up the flowers I was blown away. They were so much more than I could have imagined them to be. Just take a look for yourself!

The Rentals/Coordination: Treasury Rentals/A Chair Affair

Okay, so I was completely blessed with Emily Grace from Treasury Rentals. She really made this Haus 820 wedding come to life and this shoot wouldn’t have been as half as amazing as it was without her. When I was freaking out about the venue being occupied, or the table legs being the wrong size, she was there with a solution…All while being pregnant with twins!  She made the tables look stunning. The matte black accents were all her and I couldn’t be happier with what they brought to the shoot! She also saw the balloon elements that I used as some inspiration and took it upon herself to personally buy balloons and teach me how to create a balloon arch.

For the tables and chairs we used a Chair Affair who provided stunning white wood farm tables and the most perfect ghost chairs. These really brought everything together.

The Models, Makeup & Attire:

The models is where I had no idea where to even start. Luckily the KWP office has our very own model which we take full advantage of! Gabby was generous enough to be my bride for the shoot and I couldn’t have picked anyone better. We used Yianni from Muse Models who complemented Gabby perfectly. Shannon Miller gave Gabby a beautiful simple bridal look with an elegant updo. For the dress we wanted something very simple. Calvet Couture provided us with a gorgeous Anne Barge dress. For Yianni we went with a full green suit from ASOS. We really wanted something that would stand out and be something most people wouldn’t think of for a wedding.

I want to thank Kristen for giving me this amazing opportunity. This was an experience of a lifetime. I went into this internship not expecting to come out with the knowledge that I have now. Everything that I have learned here is something I will definitely be taking with my in my future endeavors! I’ll never forget my amazing Haus 820 wedding!
