For EverGreen: A journey through 5 decades of love

Between traveling out of the country to losing Kevin, my former styled shoot partner, to a different internship, the process of creating For Evergreen has been a rollercoaster. Prior to Kevin’s departure, we had only met with floral, picked out the venue Maitland Art Center, and sent out a few emails. Luckily, Malik came back for his second round with the KWP internship program and had been able to pick up where Kevin and I left off. Malik helped make the concept come alive, while also being able to aide me due to this being his second time planning a styled shoot with KWP. Malik and I had a lot of work to do but we were prepared to get it all done.

The concept consisted of a couple getting married on Earth Day then celebrating their love 50 years later in the same location.  We chose Maitland Arts Center because it had the Mayan Courtyard which was absolutely stunning and intricate with its design and multiple locations for photos. Some of the stunning visual highlights of the shoot included love notes that were written each decade of their marriage and the lush floral that sprouted from the ceremonial arches and hanging lights.

We are thrilled to share our shoot, featured on Glamour & Grace Blog!

Preparing for the shoot

For Evergreen’s preparation involved more than just sending out a few emails and waiting for the day of the shoot. Each day was new focus and task, whether that be in or out of the office. When Malik first jumped on board with the shoot, there had been some time we used filling him in and collaborating new possible ideas that Kevin and I did not get to discuss. From there, we started to order things we both loved, heading out to different stores, collaborating with Calvet Couture on a dress, and so on. Though the stress was high, there was never a dull moment and we agreed on nearly everything. The preparation did not end until the shoot began.

Its All About the Natural Beauty

Patricia at LeJeune Artistry was very artistic and made our 60/70s vision come alive.  She did both models makeup and hair beautifully in an appropriate amount of time. Originally, our hair concept included a braid but Patricia suggested something even better, the bump with the ribbon. She had been such great help and knowledgable about our concept. She was also very funny and we loved having her around the set.

The Mayan Courtyard at The Maitland Art Center

From the start, Kelly at Maitland Art Center was fantastic! She was great at corresponding and got back to us very promptly.  At the Maitland Art Center she was very accommodating and brought us a table and extra chairs for our hair and makeup.  Kelly was also great with checking up on us and making sure we had everything we needed.

Calvet Couture Bridal

Emily at Calvet Bridal helped us out when we were in such a time crunch, she really was an angel.  She let us try on any dress that we wanted and we ended up taking two of our favorites which included one never before photographed dress. We were very excited to photograph this dress because it had never been done! Emily also pointed us in the right direction amongst all the insanity. She understood our vision and knew exactly what we wanted.

For Ever Green Florals

The floral designer, Jesus, from Raining Roses was a tremendous help us make our concept come to life. He went above and beyond with the greenery, bouquets, and beautiful floral arch. He made the styled shoot as authentic and beautiful as it could be. Jesus and his team stuck around during the shoot and helped us move the floral arrangements, design new ones on the spot, and was very pleasant to work with.

Decades of Love Letters

Denise’s work from Dogwood Blossom Stationery was absolutely stunning. The time and effort she put into the stationary for this styled shoot went above and beyond anything we imagined. From the stamps on the envelopes to the personalize love letters, we are thoroughly impressed with her work. One day, we’ll stop talking about the beautiful tree cutout but today is not that day.

August Carroll was splendid to work with. She had been able to quickly confirm plans to be a part of this shoot with a simple phone call. She asked all the right questions; ultimately creating the perfect cake for this styled shoot. She took the our vision and made it a spiced cake with cream cheese reality!

Models

Susan and Darin from Modern Muse were great. They arrived early and were very sweet and helpful.  The Modern Muse models worked with us and our tight schedule with such ease, all while providing our shoot with such beauty.  After booking Susan and Darin, we were fortunate enough to find a couple that resembled them for the wedding day portion, Katie and Brayan. Katie and Brayan were also an absolute dream to work with. Being a real couple allowed for us to used that and make our shoot even more authentic.

Andrea, as always, was amazing to work with. Besides helping us create a gorgeous tablescape and being there for miscellaneous tasks, Andrea was hilarious and so fun to collaborate with! Andrea also helped us with so many details that we could have possibly missed without her guidance. She was a great help throughout the entire process of planning for the For Evergreen styled shoot.

Orlando Wedding and Party Rentals

We collaborated with Christine at Orlando Party Rentals and they were very prompt, arrived on time and were very nice. They also helped us move the table, chairs, arch and the prosseco stand to wherever we wanted it. The items all arrived in good condition and were extremely clean and very functional.
